CITRINE – Stone of Abundance

Natural Citrine is actually quite rare. Most “citrines” on the market are artificially heat treated crystals, using low grade, inexpensive amethyst or smoky quartz, exposed to high temperatures to generate the bright yellow/orange colour often seen. In its natural state, citrine is usually a pale yellow, sometimes with an orange or reddish caste. While it is believed that the heat process does not damage the crystal, it is important to remember that heat treated “citrine” does not carry the same properties of natural citrine.
